what we do

Red Bull House of Art is a live-in residency experience in Detroit, dedicated to providing visual artists the freedom and space to create. Our aim is to support courageous exploration in visual arts.

“At Red Bull House of Art we are committed to affecting positive change in the lives of artists. By changing the way both individuals and communities alike interact with artists, we help to craft a more harmonious, productive and fruitful cultural landscape for everyone. Where we excel is in our dedication to ongoing relationships and meaningful conversations with the broader arts and culture community. To put it simply what we really do, and why it works is that we believe in our artists.”  – Matt Eaton

our current residents

Lucien Shapiro

Lucien composes elaborately constructed masks and ornately armored weaponry and vessels, which examines a relationship between modern waste and memories of ancient cultural artifacts.

Judith Supine

Judith Supine uses materials that are free or at least real cheap. He uses an exacto-knife, glue sticks, cheap ugly paints and real sleazy magazines that make him sexually uncomfortable.

Julie Schenkelberg

Julie creates large-scale semi-permanent installations using discarded domestic materials, such as concrete, copper and rusted metal, and repurposed wood. Her work draws on her personal story and imagery of the post-industrial ruins of her hometown area.
